Writing a Schedule
Required Site: www.squareup.com
The purpose of this article is to help Store Managers understand and create schedules for their employees.
Step 1:
Log into squareup.com
Step 2:
On the left hand side (mid-way down) select "SHIFTS"
NOTE: this option will not appear on mobile devices unless the device is in landscape mode.
Step 3:
This is the "SHIFTS" section of the Square Dashboard. From here you can create, delete, or modify shifts, view an employee's availability, and see your current work day at a glance.
Step 4:
By default you are placed in the "SHIFTS" section which is what we will use to schedule an employee.
Step 5:
Begin at the top by first ensuring you're at the correct location.
NOTE: Most, if not all, store managers have access to only their store. Some managers may have multiple locations.
Step 6:
Click the "ALL TEAM MEMBERS" dropdown, then unselect "ALL TEAM MEMBERS" and only select your active employees.
Step 7:
Next to the "LOCATIONS" Section of the scheduling you will find the dates of that particular work week. Select the appropriate work week you wish to schedule for.
NOTE: Per company policy schedules must be provided 2 weeks in advanced, however square only allows you to edit one week at a time.
Step 8:
Once you've picked your employees, select the "+" icon on the selected day you wish for them to work
Step 9:
Fill out the appropriate information:
- Job Title
- Work location
- start & end time
- notes if applicable
Step 10:
Click save.
Repeat steps 8-10 for each scheduled shift per each employee.
Step 11:
Once you've completed your schedule in the top right corner select "PUBLISH" and when prompted select "PUBLISH" once again.
NOTE: it's best practice to review it before publishing it.
Step 12:
On the right hand side, to the left of the "PUBLISH" button there are 3 dots.

Step 13:
In the dropdown menu select "PRINT"
Repeat steps 11-13 for each weeks schedule you've created.
NOTE: Per company policy you must print out schedules and post them in an appropriate location in your stores breakroom/storage room. Additionally, schedules must be posted in order to print.
